Intro to Afrofuturism Course

We will also establish a framework for how to create works of art through the lens of Afrofuturism. Afrofuturism Unchains the mind. Afrofuturism stretches the Imagination far beyond the conventions of our time and the horizons of expectations and kicks the box of normalcy and preconceived ideas of blackness out of the solar system. Afrofuturism inverts reality by rewriting stories. It destabilizes previous ideas of blackness. In this workshop, we will explore the history and impact Black culture has had on society. We will also establish a framework for how to create works of art through the lens of Afrofuturism. At the end of this course, we will have an understanding of what Afrofuturism is, how you can recognize the influences in your everyday life, and how you can use it to inspire change for others. This course is for beginners that don’t know what Afrofuturism is or don’t realize that they participate in many of the things that stem from Afrofuturistic ideas.
